St. Matthew Catholic Church (Wausau, WI)

St. Matthew Catholic Church is seeking a part-time bilingual (English and Spanish) Director of Religious Education. The ideal candidate is energetic and creative, excited about the faith, loves children, and is able to inspire teachers, parents and students.

Primary responsibilities of the DRE will be to: communicate and interact with parishioners and staff in a professional and mature manner; provide a comprehensive faith formation program for children from first through tenth grade; organize, implement, and coordinate sacramental preparation activities in English and Spanish for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, Confirmation and the adult RCIA program; recruit, train, support and evaluate catechists for the English and Spanish programs; coordinate the Sunday Children?s Liturgy of the Word and the summer Vacation Bible School; evaluate the catechetical programs, plan the budget, write monthly reports for the Parish Pastoral Council, and chair the Education Committee; coordinate and support the Youth Group and maintain communication with parents of children in Religious Education through fliers and letters.

The successful candidate must be faithful to the Magisterium and have an active and mature approach to prayer and the spiritual life. He/she must not only know the faith but also be an active member of the Catholic Church.

A bachelor?s degree in Theology, Religious Education and/or Catechetics is preferred, but associated fields are acceptable. The candidate must be bilingual. Previous faith formation experience is desired. For the energetic candidate this position has the potential to become a full-time position in the future. The candidate will be expected to join St. Matthew Parish.
