I am 23 and unfourtantly I am on the short side for a guy standing at 5ft 8 1/2.
I weigh roughly 144 lbs but I am thinking of putting on more weight. I probably could be much heavier if I wanted too be. Given my height and my age what do you think would be my ideal weight? |

guys get 110# for the first five feet and then 6# per inch, so 151#, give or take 10#, would be ideal. you're perfectly fine where you are. at least that's what they taught me in medical school. |

If you want to gain weight, make sure to gain it in muscle and not fat! For your height you're in a healthy weight range. |

Pick up heavy logs and rocks? There's bodyweight exercises, but I find those tedious. |

There is no such thing as "ideal" weight, unless you're competing in weight divisions. Check your body composition.
Also you can gain weight in muscle by eating a lot and utilizing your muscles by progressively stressing them. |
