Shrimp cocktail isn?t just for parties. Sure, you have to pay a little more for good jumbo shrimp, but the indulgence and healthfulness of the dish makes it all worth it. Choose between premade or homemade cocktail sauce (both are easy), but whatever you do, choose the low-sugar sauce with lots of horseradish. The spicy sauce will make you feel like you?ve really eaten something worth remembering, and the shrimp is high in protein but low in calories, which will keep you satisfied. Saute up some zucchini. Slice your zucchini thin, and chop up a clove of garlic, a bit of fresh basil, and a Roma tomato. Drizzle a teensy bit of olive oil in your skillet and saut? the garlic, tomato, and zucchini just until al dente. Top it with lemon juice from a half of a lemon. The flavor will be magnificent, the fiber will fill you up, the veggies are good for you, and the whole thing low in calories. Imagine yourself a Greek goddess as you make this Greek salad. The key to this salad is to spread the ingredients with the strongest flavors throughout the dish, making it possible to use less of them. Slice up three kalamata olives and a half clove of fresh garlic (finely). Mix with a tablespoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of vinegar, just enough to dress your salad. Fill your bowl with any low cal veggies you like ? tomatoes, greens, celery, peppers, carrots ? and drizzle this amazingly good and potent dressing over them. Top it off with freshly ground black pepper and a teensy sprinkling of grated cheese. Try new low cal recipes every week, adding to your regular repetoir such that you phase out heavy winter foods and bring in the light spring foods.
